The Drama: A24 Wedding Pop-Up

A24 staged a pop-up event to promote The Drama in the eloping capital of the world. A couple of weeks ago, they put up a website for people to apply to get married at the event.

We arrived before the start time. It was a tense, but jovial atmosphere as like-minded cinephiles took photos, bought exclusive merch, and waited to discover what was going to happen.

Around 10:15am or so, a line of blacked out SUVs pulled into the parking lot. Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza, One Battle After Another) exited one car and entered the chapel. Following soon behind, Zendaya (Euphoria, Challengers, Dune) did the same. In a funny surprise, the crowd was essentially rendered speechless. No one was brave enough to make a peep as she effortlessly glided by, into the building.

Alana and Zendaya joined the wedding inside, acting as witnesses and helping to officiate in some capacity, while the crowd outside mingled about. After the wedding, they came back out and took official photos in front of the signage. The newlyweds appeared from the chapel and the actors cheered, the crowd joining in. Alana and Zendaya made their exit. A few were brave enough to utter some “I love you’s” this time.

The Drama releases on April 3rd of this year.
